A FREE starlight outdoor cinema screening will be presented by “Pictures in Motion” at Wireless Hill on Saturday 9th November 2019.
This will be the 1924 silent classic “The Thief of Bagdad”, starring Douglas Fairbanks, with an introduction by Roy Mudge.When the Thief of Baghdad (Douglas Fairbanks) sneaks into a royal palace, he discovers and instantly falls in love with a beautiful princess (Julanne Johnston). The thief pretends to be a prince, and the princess becomes enamoured with him. The thief then reveals his wrongdoing to a Holy Man (Charles Belcher), who sends him to find a magic chest as penance. Western Australian Film Preservation The Australian Museum of Motion Picture and Television Film Library has donated 24 Titles on 29 reels of 16mm film from its collection to the State Library of Western Australia. Almost all of these titles were endangered and needed to be digitised or they could have been lost forever. The State library’s funding drive has led to further digitisation of important Western Australian historical and cultural films which have been now given a new lease of life. AMMPT Collection Tours 2018, continued from successful tours in 2017. The Australian Museum of Motion Picture and Television (AMMPT Western Region) is pleased to once again be conducting free tours of the museum’s collection at the Sunset Heritage Precinct in Dalkeith. One of these buildings contains the museum’s collection of cinema and television paraphernalia.
